🍯🌺 This is why authors disappear from the internet

Hey book babe,

If my sinuses get any more congested, I might need one of my fictional Navy SEALs to perform an emergency rescue mission. coughs dramatically

Send tissues. And definitely tequila.

But not even this plague from hell can stop me from:

  1. Doing a happy dance over Grumpfest's success (picture me dancing... now picture Max Harrison's horrified face if he saw me). THANK you for embracing my grumpiest hero yet!
  2. Sharing a juicy snippet from Chord of War and Love that's too angsty for tissues to handle.
This version of Sean looked like he could devour me whole and ask for seconds.
He paused at the bottom of the stairs, those striking blue eyes—lighter than I recalled, almost ice—sweeping the room before landing on me with laser precision. For a split second, something vulnerable flickered in those depths, something that looked almost like hurt. But then his mouth curved into a smile that was all sharp edges and dangerous promises.
"Well, well," he drawled, his voice the same gravelly rasp that had starred in too many of my recent dreams. "If it isn't my favorite Runaway Rockstar."
The words landed like a slap. Heat, a mortifying mix of embarrassment and anger, flooded my cheeks. Of course, he'd go straight for the jugular. Of course he'd reference the fact that I'd literally run away from him—and the best night of my life—like some kind of coward.
Which, okay, I had run. But he didn't have to be such a dick about it.

Speaking of judgment...

If you're online enough, you may have heard some rumblings around the Chloe Walsh situation amongst other readers. deep sigh

Sadly, I've seen what happens when the internet decides someone is villain-of-the-day.

The online bullying Chloe Walsh is facing is exactly why authors sometimes vanish from the internet.

I've long believed that "cancel culture" is a cancer upon society, and it's quickly turning the book world into a dumpster fire, too.

So, this is me, standing here with a fire extinguisher saying "enough."

Whether you love a book or hate it, try to remember that authors are humans with actual feelings.

And sometimes they write about real experiences they've actually endured, and weave it into fiction. It can actually be very cathartic and healing, for both author and reader.

Novel concept, I know.

In any case, I'd just ask that we all strive to be better humans and treat each other with kindness. If you wouldn't say something to a person standing right in front of you, you probably shouldn't say it on the internet either.

It's very sad what online bullying can do to a person's mental health, and... it's not okay. steps down from soapbox

Surviving on DayQuil and determination,

P.S. Is Grumpfest the cure for the common cold? No, but it's definitely the cure for a boring weekend and a distraction from internet drama. Just saying. Read it now! (Also, don't forget the bonus scene has dropped, on our super secret bonus page!)
