Hey there, book lover,
Is it just me, or does social media feel like a full-time job you never applied for lately? Between trying to keep up with algorithm changes, pretending to understand why TikTok thinks I need seventeen videos about sourdough starters, and the general chaos that is existing online right now, I'm exhausted.
Some days I open Instagram and immediately want to throw my phone into the nearest body of water. Which would be problematic since I need it for, you know, actual work things.
π TLDR: THE IMPORTANT STUFF
β’ SOCIAL MEDIA FATIGUE: It's real and it's spectacularly annoying
β’ BOOK DETOX: Better than doomscrolling, I promise
β’ HOTSHOT UPDATE: Currently in production and looking gorgeous
β’ ESCAPE ROUTES: Chord and Grumpfest are standing by
β’ REALITY CHECK: Sometimes books > internet
π± THE GREAT SOCIAL MEDIA EXHAUSTION
Do you ever feel like social media went from "fun way to connect" to "part-time job managing your digital existence"? Because same.
I spend more time trying to figure out what the algorithms want than I do actually creating content you might enjoy. And don't get me started on trying to be "authentic" while also being "professional" while also being "engaging" while also not losing my damn mind.
Some days I just want to post pictures of my books and call it good. Remember when that was enough?
π BOOKS: THE ORIGINAL SCREEN-FREE ENTERTAINMENT
You know what doesn't change algorithms on you randomly? Books. You know what doesn't require you to lip sing for 15 seconds to get your attention? Books.
You know what lets you escape all the online chaos for a few blissful hours? Well, you get where I'm going with this.
π HOTSHOT PRODUCTION UPDATE
Speaking of escaping into fictional worlds, Hotshot (Jack's book from the Puck & Play series) is currently in production and looking absolutely gorgeous. I'm having way too much fun with Jack's pretty-boy swagger and his complete inability to handle one particular woman who couldn't care less about his charm.
Can't wait for you to meet the woman who makes Mr. Confidence forget how to form sentences.
πΈ YOUR CURRENT ESCAPE OPTIONS
While we're waiting for Hotshot to make his grand entrance, might I suggest some quality doomscroll alternatives?
βChord of War & Love - Sean and Jade are still busy proving that rockstars can have emotional growth AND excellent chemistry. Perfect for when you need to forget the internet exists.
βGrumpfest - Max continues to be grumpy, sunshine-averse, and completely irresistible if you love a good enemies-to-lovers situation with hockey players who need attitude adjustments.
π« THE REAL TALK
Some weeks social media feels like shouting into a void while that void judges your content strategy and finds it lacking. Some weeks everything feels like too much and you just want to hide in fictional worlds where problems get solved in 300 pages.
This is one of those weeks for me. Which means it might be one of those weeks for you too.
So here's your permission slip: close the apps, pick up a book (preferably one of mine, obviously), and let someone else's fictional drama be more interesting than whatever fresh hell the internet is serving today.
Your mental health will thank you. And my bank account will too, but mostly the mental health thing.
Still believing in happily ever afters (especially offline ones),
